It started with a contract gone awry. I can not discern what I did wrong to end up captured and nearly killed trying to retrieve my weapons and horse, but what happened afterward shook me to the core. I met a rogue whom I suspect is more mercenary than he exudes...Jakoris Se'vant, and for a week's time after my botched contract I was content with his company. No, I was ecstatic to put it bluntly. My paradise was interrupted soon enough by my mentor and sometimes tormentor, Xiaolong Zhiyu, an Aljenu of Fate. He marked me, as is customary for those of us who play the Game of Fate. Machiavellia's hordes move against me and the company I now keep. A mercenary named Akuto, my esteemed friend and demi-god Sabrial, an enigmatic giant of a woman named Hiryu, and others I will not name. We've been traveling for some tendays' time on a quest in which we know little, and suspect much. And each passing day I feel the shadow growing in my heart.

"Do not let yourself become engrossed in one man, Xui Mei. You, even when you do not mean to, will be the bane of many men during this game." Those were his words to me. Those ominous words have hung over my head like a perpetual storm cloud waiting to erupt its unkempt fury upon my subconscious. Dreams haunt me, dreams of a pair of green eyes dying from some unseen torment. Screamers invade my dreams as well...in fact, I've been having lots of uninvited guests in my sleep since this mission began. And so, I wait. Wait to live...die...or for absolution.

NOTES ON PLAYING WITH NADJA

Talents of the Trade:

Nadja was trained by an Aljenu from Chi'in (present-day China) in the arts most refer to as Gong Fu. This, combined with the training of her Persian and Nubian instructors, makes her a formidable ally...or advesary.

  • Trained in Southern and Northern style Kung-Fu. She specializes in the scimitars, in which she blends Gong-Fu's stylized and effective attacks with Persia's hard and heavy ferocity.

  • Sai Training - she wields them as an extension of her arms and can wield them in tandem with one another, but she rarely uses them now.

  • Throwing daggers. Think 'House of Flying Daggers' only more realistic. She carries daggers of a similar make, and throws them the same way. The only difference is they don't do ridiculous curving stunts unless she places an enchantment on them before hand. She carries six of these strapped to her inner thigh.

  • King's Straight Sword. A Southern-Style Gong Fu weapon that she never wields in battle. She does, however, do her morning excersises with them.

  • Plum-Flower broadsword. Same style of Gong-Fu, never used in battle, but always used in training.

  • Bare-handed combat - she blends southern style Hung-Gar's grounded, forceful attacks, with Northern style's more acrobatic, rapid attacks. She favors the north, however.

    Weapons She Carries:

Sometimes, these weapons are worn openly. Most of the time, they are covertly hidden on various parts of her body, which accounts for why her tunic is usually much bigger than her slight frame.

  • Two scimitars hanging from a leather-hide belt adorned with cowrie shells. These are almost always concealed within the folds of her tunic. One scimitar was her brother's, before he committed suicide, the other was crafted by Anathe (it's decorated in runing she can't decipher, but apparently it makes them bound to her will).

  • She also has a pair of 'soul-sucking' scimitars from Anathe which remain hidden with her closest friend and confidante, Leola Tracadas. To touch them, is to die; they are blood-bound to Nadja through Anathe's own hand.

  • Her throwing knives in a black case strapped to her inner right thigh.

  • Twin sai which are covertly sheathed in her boots.

  • A 'chakram' that actually is lethally edged and smaller than normal and engraved with Arabian calligraphic scrollwork which also hange from her belt.

  • Vambraces that are edged with retractable blades carved from dragon's teeth (made by a character in Calracia named Anathe, a bronze dragon).

  • A small pouch of poison for dire circumstances.

Listed below are quirks Nadja has, some liabilities (as if being human weren't enough of a liability), and affiliations.

Nature: Nadja is submissive when one gets past the armor that surrounds her persona. She is blood-cursed to desire a man who can physically and intellectually overpower her. She is able to fight this nature at times, but sometimes she has to let go to retain her...sanity.

    Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

    Loyalties: None.

Current Location: Kingdom of Gar'linth, at the Three Horns Tavern & Inn

    Miscellaneous:

  • A Serpent's Tale A book I wrote and published about her background. It's relatively short, but according to those who purchased and read it, a good read.

  • All combat is done free-form turn-based-logic. This means, if you attack, you can not force the hit. You punch Nadja, your strike ends at the tip of her nose. Naturally, if I decide to let her get her nose broken, I will, but don't go assuming every hit is a direct one. Vier Glueck.

  • For those of you who have a problem with my writing, I salute you for being such social parasites. If you've nothing better to do than sit around saying how much of a 'stereotypcially, boring, dry, overembellished, etc' writer I am, then what's that say about what your life adds up to? I don't claim to be the best in the game, but I'm certainly not the worst. I take pride in my writing and am always looking to improve. Maybe you should do the same.

This is the fictional journal of my Nubian character, Nadja Maharat. No, she is not real folks. You can, however, read the novel about her by typing in my first and last name at the Amazon website. If you wish to roleplay sometime, email me!
